After living in your new apartment for several weeks, you finally found the time to invite your friends. You quickly showed them the rooms and now sit down together at the large table in the living room. Now let's talk calmly and drink coffee. Since your guests' children don't want to be around adults, they sit comfortably at a low coffee table and lay out their art supplies. Place small snacks on the side table next to him.

Living and dining room: for comfortable sitting together

As the focal point of your home, the living room and dining room provide a meeting place where you can comfortably sit together and eat together as a family. Below you will find out which tables are suitable here.

Dining tables

The living room or dining room should have a dining table that at least all family members can sit at. If you do not want the table to be too cramped, you should consider a table width of 60 to 70 cm per seat. If you often have guests, a pull-out model is practical, which you can easily expand by adding several seats if necessary. Since the dining table is usually the center of family life, care should be taken to ensure that it is of good quality so that it lasts a long time.

In terms of design, you can choose between classic four-legged dining tables and tables with a wide central base on which the top rests. The advantage of the latest models is that they do not have annoying legs that limit the space if there are several more guests.

Round or square? Rectangular tables are space-saving as they make efficient use of available space and are especially suitable for couples who like to sit across from each other. If you have more space and it is important that everyone at the dining table can see each other clearly, you should choose a round table. While rectangular tables can be any length, round tables are limited in size, otherwise the distance between people and the overall table surface will be too large.

Coffee tables

To ensure you have room for snacks, the remote control, or drinks while watching TV, a coffee table or side table shouldn't be missing. Together with the armchair and seating area, this creates a beautiful relaxation area. Coffee tables with built-in drawers are especially practical when you need to quickly hide things from prying eyes.

Side tables

Typically, you can place a side table next to the sofa, which is usually taller but smaller than a coffee table. Side tables are especially suitable for placing a table lamp or flower vase. Due to their decentralized position, they are not the focal point of the home and can therefore primarily score points with their appearance, while the coffee table is more responsible for practical aspects. They can also be easily moved if you want to use them somewhere else.

Kitchen: for eating and cooking

In the kitchen you gather with the whole family to have breakfast. You can also use matching tables to expand your work surface.

Dining and bar tables

You can also put a dining table in the kitchen if there is also a dining area. However, kitchens are usually smaller and don't offer as much space. That's why tall bar tables, and especially narrow ones, are a good way to create extra storage and work space. This is also a good place to have breakfast in the morning. Narrow desks require only a small amount of floor space, but if they have built-in shelves, they can offer plenty of storage space.

Folding tables

Folding tables are also a good alternative if your kitchen is very small and you don't need a table all the time. They can be attached to the wall and simply laid out as needed.

Office: for work and study

In an office, you need a place to work or study. Functional desks that also provide space for a PC and files are especially suitable here.

Training tables

If you have set up a workspace at home, you should equip it with a desk. So that you can store your documents and not lose sight of them, your desk should have many drawers and shelves. You can complement the laconic models, consisting only of a tabletop and four legs, with practical drawers.

Computer tables

Since we mostly work on computers these days, some desks have parts specifically designed for this purpose. A pull-out keyboard tray where your laptop can disappear when you don't need it or a cable pass-through provides greater comfort and prevents cable clutter. If you primarily use your desk for your computer, you may also want to look for a computer desk specifically equipped for that purpose!
