Sliding wardrobes
The problem of overcrowding is especially relevant for residents of apartments with a minimalist layout, which were built in large numbers during the early Soviet period, when there was an acute shortage of housing stock, the construction of which noticeably lagged behind the urbanization of cities, which resulted in the mass resettlement of rural residents closer to their workplaces in the workshops of new industrial enterprises being built. Stalin-era and Khrushchev-era apartments, named after the surnames of the leaders of the corresponding period, are now passed down from grandparents to grandchildren, bought and sold together with the fundamentally unavoidable shortcomings that existed in them before. The situation with dormitory rooms and communal apartments looks even sadder, so many newly minted property owners, who are representatives of the modern generation of young people, often find the task of improving their living conditions insurmountable. However, with a comprehensive approach, starting from the very initial stage of arrangement, namely the planning of the future filling of the rooms, with a reasonable approach, it is possible to level out the existing difficulties by maintaining an optimal balance between the occupied and free space of the room. First of all, of course, this concerns furniture items, which should be selected in such a way as to obtain the maximum available functionality and volume of space intended for storing things with a minimum expenditure of square footage for their installation. To achieve this goal, one of the options is quite suitable sliding wardrobes, which have a number of valuable properties.
Among the main advantages it is worth mentioning the following:
Sliding and retractable doors, unlike hinged doors, do not move along a circular arc into the space in front of the furniture, but to the right or left towards the center of the frame. This way, the passage used for moving residents is not blocked, which is most important for narrow corridors and hallways.
There are a sufficient number of shelves and drawers inside, which have support surfaces. Increasing their number does not increase the initial volume, but at the same time allows you to place more fragile items inside that need horizontal support, such as ceramic and glassware, decorative figurines, household appliances with plastic housings.
Also, a tall mirror attached to the door will be of invaluable use in the hallway, allowing you to carefully examine yourself from head to toe. At the same time, any defects you notice can be promptly corrected before going outside, and you won’t give your acquaintances a reason to point out any shortcomings in your appearance.
For more spacious rooms, it may be preferable to use similar wardrobes that perform the same functions but differ in design from sliding wardrobes, which are worth telling a few words about in separate sections.
Popular analogues of sliding wardrobes
Each of the analogs of sliding wardrobes differs from them, as a rule, only in the design of the doors, namely, their opening method. The swing type has a significant advantage, consisting in a simpler and more reliable fastening on rotary hinges instead of rollers rolling along horizontal guides.
Double door wardrobes
Small in width two door wardrobes do not take up much space, so they can also be used in hallways with sufficient distance between two parallel walls, to one of which they will be closely placed. Also, this type of furniture will more than cover the storage needs for things in children's rooms, small and cozy bedrooms, as well as the offices of doctors, accountants, engineers.
Three door wardrobes
A little more space is provided three door wardrobes, called chiffoniers, their old-fashioned counterparts were popular in Soviet times. They will fit perfectly into the decor of a spacious bedroom, while giving the inhabitants the opportunity to hide a lot of stuff from view:
dresses, dressing gowns, outerwear not used in the current season;
underwear, socks, stockings, tights, knee-highs;
bedding such as pillows, blankets, bedspreads, sheets and pillowcases.
It will also be convenient for women to keep here tools and materials for body and appearance care.
